Life, Death and Resurrection

We gathered again by the pond - to listen, to observe, to experience something we hadn’t before. None of us knew what to expect from the piano, the performer or the pond. Anything was possible. The soundscape was multi-dimensional, we were immersed in sounds emerging from the trees, from above and below. The sounds emanating from the piano itself raced across the surface of the much-diminished pond, bouncing off the still green trees and into the air, the sky and beyond.

I was a fortunate audience member for both of the performances that day. In the afternoon, the experience ended in a triumphant death, the sun splashing down on Ynyr, illuminating the pond and electrifying the green surroundings. Death was resurrected, the cycle complete. The evening performance unfolded as the light fell, a chill settled onto the piano, the pond and the audience. The end was finite, conclusive. It was over.
