About Artist Multiples

Artist multiples are a series of objects produced in small and limited editions. They can be created by an artist, a maker, a crafts-person or any kind of creative person. Creating a numbered set of multiples is especially useful when using production techniques that are not viable for producing one-off pieces, for example printing, laser cutting or casting. The objects can be functional, sculptural, wearable, gift-able or hangable. They are made specifically for sale and are offered at an affordable price to encouraging distribution to a wide audience. Historically, multiples were seen as an alternative and more democratic means of creating and disseminating artwork, outside of the mainstream art market.
