Flags Flying in Llangoed
Llangoed Village Hall once again has a flagpole! With support from Balchder Bro Môn, we designed flags to represent our community, celebrate special events and create a visual buzz around our local 114-year-old village hall gathering place.
The flagpole was launched with a series of eleven custom-printed flags designed by students at Ysgol Gynradd Llangoed, community groups - including Llangoed WI and Llangoed Village Hall and creative individuals near and far - Anita Molhotra, Ceyda Ozkay, Dawn Naylor, Rhodri Roberts and Susie Wright.
These events are funded through Balchder Bro Môn, which has been funded by the UK Government through the UK Common Prosperity Fund, with financial support also from the Nuclear Recovery Services (NRS) on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

Animals and Pets – seals and squirrels, dogs, chickens, horses, butterflies and a dragon of course
the design is inspired by the wooden WI crest that has adorned the back room of the village hall for decades
The colours of this flag are inspired by the Welsh flag with a bold outline of the hall’s most prominent architectural features
Inspired by the surrounding sea, Dawn’s flag combines sailboats with an anchor and seahorse, celebrating Aberlleiniog beach and its ice age features and medieval trading wharf.
‘Flag for my Father’ speaks to people about loss and letting go. Susie’s confetti people flutter with the breeze, pointing in the many directions her father lived.
Ceyda Ozkay for the Llangoed Flower Show – this colourful abstract flag is designed by artist and textile designer Ceyda Ozkay, using the Flower Show’s two main colours - yellow and orange.
Rhodri’s design is a beautiful combination of local references – the colour scheme and puffins are from CPD Llangoed, our football team. The layout is inspired by the Ynys Môn flag along with the Penmon lighthouse with adorning wreath as a tribute Edith and Gwenddolen, the botanist sisters who lived at Corneyln Manor.
The Village Hall is central to community life in the village, featuring prominently on Anita’s design. The bridge across the Arfon Lleiniog leading to Aberlleiniog castle brings us into our beautiful woodlands and population of red squirrels.
Flags Flying Workshops
The project included two flag design workshops, led by artist and designer Ffion Pritchard,
one at Llangoed Village Hall and the second at Ysgol Gynradd Llangoed
