'Celestial Blue' Debbie Budenberg
Celestial Blue was imagined as a space of questioning and reflection, a space free of hierarchical thinking, a quest for that which inspires, comforts and sustains us. It is a temporary suspension of reality, a questioning of faith and our relationship to ‘the other’.
Interrupted, disrupted and ultimately completely transformed by lockdown, the final installation is an amalgamation of intentions and ideas, purpose and potential, embodiment and epiphany. During lockdown, the room was used by the Lewis children as a zone of possibilities, a surrealistic play area affectionately titled ‘The Blue Room’. The happenings of this time were the incorporated back into the work when it was finally installed.
