1947 - 1964 Alfred Wells

Known

  • Wells owned a boat called the Kootenay, a twin screw motor yacht from 1949 until 1955. The wooden boat had been built in 1912, had been requisitioned for war service in 1943 and then sold back into private use.

  • In November 1945, the A. C. Wells Company started producing clocks and watches at their factory in Holyhead. This company, originally from London, had relocated to Holyheaad and produced precision parts for aircraft during the war, but now that the war was over, Holyhead Town Council was keen for the factory to remain in order to provide much needed jobs. The Wells Company was a large employer in Holyhead for many years after the war, producing clocks and later toys and plastic goods at their factory.

  • Berwyn Lewis with his wife Molly Lewis and son Mike Lewis were living in the lodge, working as gardener and groundskeeper along with Dick Thomas. Berwyn was also an enthusiastic photographer.

  • Robyn Davis was working here doing maintenance, cleaning, gardening and everything.

  • The last section green house was added in 1947 or 1948

  • “The Sale” happened at the end of this time. Most of the possessions were sold during this.
