Plas Bodfa was built in the 1920s as a family home.
The original building took inspiration from the Art Deco and Arts and Crafts movements. After passing through several different families (The Hughes Family, the Pal Family and the Wells Family), it was transformed into an American-style steak house restaurant in the 1970’s and then into a residential care home. It was during this period that the house was expanded to include additional bedrooms, bathrooms, the enclosed garages and additional entranceway. In the 90s the property was again sold and became headquarters to the Elizabeth Bradley tapestry kit company, which eventually opened a gift shop and tea room. After the sale of the company and the closure of the tea room, Plas Bodfa stood empty for more than a decade.
